"Niga" does not mean rant in Japanese

This is a 4 months old post, but people are going to ridiculous lengths to explain away something that has a simple explanation. Do you really think that he thought to himself, as a high school sophomore: "I want to add the word rant to my name. Instead, I'll use the word "niga" which means bitter, which kind of means rant if you apply it figuratively to a bitter person?"

All of us know what "niga" looks and sounds like, and at 15, he would too. Even if he intended for it to mean 'bitter' or 'rant', at some point he would have thought to himself, "hey, this kind of sounds like a bad word, maybe I should use something else." These explanations require assuming that he went through some convoluted naming process, and then dismissed the worry that it sounds like a bad word.

It's far more likely that he was just making an edgy joke, and is coming up with an explanation after the fact. It was the mid 2000s, and I can say from memory that plenty of non-black kids trying to be edgy were using the n-word in my school.
