Yes, a ton of Muslim women in the west have the choice to wear the hijab and do it anyway because they want to, but that's almost only strictly limited to the west and not the middle East where they don't see covering themselves up with hijabs/burqas/niqabs etc as a the cultural practice that it is, but instead firmly link it to the way they interpret the Qur'an and thus say they're enforcing Islam as it should be followed. So yeah, many women do it out of choice but also a shitton do it because they have to. And criticizing either for their origins and reasons is not a problem, as long as it's not purely pulled out of some idiots ass
