I don’t know if this is a controversial opinion but I think Sonic/SEGA needs to stop leaning on Nintendo. At this point some people have assumed Sonic is a Nintendo franchise and that Nintendo brought SEGA out. Why? Probably because SEGA clung too close to Nintendo for so long. Sonic is SEGA’s mascot, not Nintendo. SEGA should spend more time promoting their own brands and remind the public that they exist. You’ll never hear anyone surprised Nintendo exists. But some people are surprised when they learn SEGA survived the 90s. I think that speaks to weak marketing. SEGA is a major publisher. There is no reason they should be so undercover.
