Why The Nintendo Switch "Drought" Doesn't Make Any Sense (OC)

The Switch has hardly been out a year

It's been out almost a year and a half. Holiday 2018 will be strong, absolutely, but it doesn't change the fact that Nintendo has mostly re-released Wii U ports for it so far this year. The cadence is irrelevant if you've already played those games.

3rd party content certainly exists, but it is just as if not more irrelevant if you have anything other than a Switch to play it on — unless you're willing to trade performance for portability. For anyone who prefers performance, new games play better on other platforms, leaving Switch as a destination for exclusives, and Nintendo has been mostly busy this year putting out stuff that some of us don't need another copy of. Quite a few third parties have gotten in on the act as well. As I said, it's a matter of perspective.
