He 100 percent dressed a guy down in class in front of everyone for training at twin towers wrestling club, a non profit community wrestling club that meets in the LES. I was there when he did it. The guy was totally crushed. It was not cool. Both he and I stopped training there after that. I also know for a fact that he's banned people from the gym for training at other schools, even though i'd heard him in class repeatedly saying he's fine with people going to train at other gyms for a while.

You are right, I forgot that people call him by his first name. I was remembering the other thing you referred to, which is that he's particular about how you try and get his attention, and I deleted that from the original comment.

The belt thing is not necessarily bad. I understand that he feels that never promoting keeps belt chasing egos away from the gym, and he might not be wrong about that. But it seems like a strange idea to hold all of your guys back from the purple belt IBJJF division.
