No. He doesn't like kids.

I do not still have the kitty. My husband and I moved to New England and the house we moved into already had WAY too many cats already (a whole different story). We rehomed her and her closely bonded other kitty to a wonderful family without kids.

The x-rays were horrifying. With the way their feet are shaped, when their toes break they separate completely from the feet. Hers were broken between then 1st and 2nd 'knuckle.' It made me nauseated to look at them; I can't imagine what she went through.

A couple years ago, a friend's cat had 3 kittens. She immediately rejected one of them, not letting it eat and pushing it out of the box. I had been there to help with the new kittens and found him a little while later cold and still on the floor. I panicked and grabbed him and rubbed him very hard for a few seconds. I plunked him on the counter and he starts breathing again and cries. I tucked him in my bra (because it's warm and I needed both hands to make formula). If I never have to bottle feed another 24 hour old kitten, it will be too soon.

Anyway, he was tiny forever. At one point, he was hiding under the blanket that draped over the foot of the bed. A friend stepped on him, not knowing he was under there. Cue immediate panic. He would not walk (fell limp if you set him on his feet) and made gasping sounds that I will have nightmares about forever. We damn near flew to the vet's. They put him in a high oxygen environment for about 15 minutes to see if he would be okay. Sure enough, about 10 minutes in, it was like a light switch. It was like it never happened. They watched him for another half an hour but he played with the toy, jumped about, and batted at the glass when people walked by.

My friend paid for the vet bill... and took the kitten home with him when he left. :P My response? You break it, you bought it.

TL;DR: Feeding premature kittens is bullshit, and they don't take very well to being stepped on.
