I think it boils down to liberals using Emotions to push their ideals. I notice a lot of my same age friends (i'm a millennial) will use a sob story to push their agenda. Try to argue with them using logic and you are looked at as a heartless human being which is untrue.

It's like someone saying, "A Dog owner killed their poor defenseless puppy using Chocolate, BAN all chocolate! cue pictures of cute puppy"
and another person says, "This is not logical, it was obviously the owners fault, not the chocolate." To which the reply is, "Do you HATE dogs? Are you against the life and well being of dogs? This poor doggy was just murdered! At least we are doing "something" about it." etc etc etc
