This is objectively horrible. First, they can’t guarantee this. The reservation system is about preventing too many ppl on the mountain in a fair way, preferencing ppl who invested in a season pass (specifically to incentivize people buying season passes, to the preference for season pass holders is part of the incentive for buying one). If enough ppl buy A-Basin passes, and they all show up (eg weekend/holiday), they simply cannot let them all on the mountain on. Reservations at least make clear that if you drive up, you’re allowed to ride. Second, this is double dipping by Alta and just bullshit to make ppl who already bought Ikon Passes have to buy another pass to use A-Basin (which is supposed to be an unlimited access resort on Ikon). This is bad, bad form and if it happens to Squaw or Mammoth, I’m going to call Alta and demand my money back for my Ikon Pass. Part of the bargain of the Ikon Pass was having highest preference in the reservation system. This negates that part of the bargain.
