I’ve traveled around a lot, something like 30 countries and every continent. I’ve gotta say the Philippines was the poorest one that I’ve been to, seemingly even more so than Cambodia which had a horrific genocide in the not so distant past.

I haven’t watched all of this season yet, but to the person saying they don’t believe there’s no doors and 4 hours from Manila statement was exaggerated.. google maps saying the journey takes 50 min could very well mean it takes four hours in that traffic and those roads in the transport options available. And depending on her family’s circumstances they very well could live in a place without doors because many people live in quasi houses that aren’t structurally very sound.

I absolutely understand why people from some of these people are desperate to leave their country and go to America. The Philippines is naturally beautiful and the people are some of the friendliest I’ve ever met, but there is no doubt that they’d be better off in the us even with a broke dude. I think Ed is an idiot but sometimes it’s hard to fathom what life is like in other parts of the world until you see it for yourself
