[No Spoilers] What do you personally think about Dragon age 2 and it's ideas?

It had some of the best ideas, in terms of story and the world. Unfortunately, many of these ideas were used in a poor fashion. It had the greatest potential, but was poorly presented.

Good:

  • The story was finally not about a world-ending threat. It is a very political one.
  • The companions were interesting, if often under developed. I really like how they all hated each other, which made their dysfunctional nature more obvious. Furthermore, the characters are the story. The mages and Templars help drive the characters, but the game is about Anders increasing fanaticism, Merrill's pride, and Fenris' rage. The Hawke's trying to find their way as immigrants in Kirkwall.

Bad:

  • Sometimes, they grey morality is forced. In order to portray the oppressive nature of the Templars and circles as a potentially good thing, they make most of the mages either evil or incredibility naive. Or both.
  • A very small amount of banter. Inquisition had the best banter by far (even if it is so rare to actually appear). Furthermore, much of their character development is rushed.
