The Nobel For Trump? Unlike Other Winners, He’s Actually Advanced Peace

I don’t think he should get it but I also don’t think Obama should have got it.

Trump has pushed for peace in a lot of cases and has held fairly strong on noninterventionisn but he’s also at the head of a nation which is fighting like 15 different fronts at any given time and has shown a willingness to use force to achieve foreign policy aims. I don’t think unless a president actively ends a war or conflict that they should be considered for it because the US is constantly engaged in hostilities, technically at the behest of the president. If NK had worked out or Israel Palestine I’d say yes, but I wouldn’t give it to him this year for this.

This isn’t US or Trump bashing BTW. Peace isn’t inherently the ideal thing; if we had a nonaggression pact with Hitler there would be less fighting/hostility between two nations, but at what cost? Sometimes fighting is the morally sound option. I just think the Nobel Peace prize is best given to someone who found a way to achieve life improving ends without using violence. Those people who somehow make it work get this particular award.
