Nobody talks about how much executive dysfunction affects your ability to properly engage in/enjoy recreational activities

So, I’m a little different in that regard. Wide range on the surface, but the abyss in a few key spots.

There are only a few games and kinds of games I like, but will play them relentlessly for years. Hell, I just started another Skyrim character because it’s been a while…but it’s like 4-5 total games in my library. When a console upgrade is in order, I shift to another 4-5 games…

I’m like this with hobbies: outdoor rec is my bag, but it’s climbing and skiing where I have everything for any available aspect of the sports, with 25 and 40 years (respectively) of experience. Got a couple bikes, but it’s a sporadic fitness and an environmental thing. I think hiking is boring, camping is boring (unless it’s in order to do stuff besides camping), I ran competitively through college but don’t anymore, kayaking makes my legs fall asleep and canoeing is boring unless it’s whitewater but I can’t store a boat.

My music collection covers a lot but is deep in a few specific cases; b-sides, demos, box sets, the works.

I don’t know what makes me stay latched onto a thing. Most stuff I’m the same way, pick it up and if I’m not immediately good I quit, if I am I’ll obsess then drop it. But some things just hit all the right parts.
