Nodding hardcore?

Agreed. My ex sister in law is in recovery. Addicted for over a decade. She's almost 10 months sober and has such a great, and growing, relationship with her 10 year old daughter. I told her how proud I am of her, her recovery and her taking the time for her daughter... she said to not be proud of something she should've been doing anyways, from the get-go... but I still am, like a proud momma bird kicking the baby bird out of the nest and it flying. Lol I can't imagine how hard it was to go through the withdrawals, and even now, waking up every morning and making a decision to stay away from all that (which includes other close family members)... last Christmas I remember with her, she was begging her mom, who's significant other just passed away 5 days prior, for the TVs she has. "No one is gonna get me anything for Christmas"... she stole the TVs in the end. Meanwhile, my ex mother in law just lost her significant other, had no income, custody of a then 4 year old (the 10yr old daughter), her SO's family was kicking her out of the house, they turned off the heat (in the middle of winter), and her bday is 4 days after Christmas... other than me, she received nothing.. except for the one gift her SO got her that she still hasn't opened to this day. This Christmas will be a much happier one and I'm excited for all of them!

Now, I just wish my son's dad would get serious about his recovery. He's missed out in 14 years so far, plus another year in prison... sigh.
