Noise complaints between tenants

would you let the complaining tenants out of their lease with no penalty if they demand you solve the problem or not? just curious

I am in a similar problem, the upstairs neighbors have a subwoofer on their stereo system and like to listen to some gawdawful boom boom boom type techno dance music, because of the way low frequency bass travels I suspect the booming might even be louder in my apartment than in theirs

I work at home and find it impossible to concentrate when there is a rhythmic bass booming going on, even during the day, and it has progressed to me hammering on a dryer vent with a spoon like a madman when the music drives me past the point

I don't know what to do, as one can hardly call the police for subwoofer vibrations when someone going to their door might not think the music is loud at all, especially during the day

really like this place and don't want to move, so for now my only recourse is the childish game of hammering on vent pipes and get into competing noise rackets. moving is a solution, but no guarantees that after all that trouble the new place might have a problem too

wish buildings were soundproofed better
