Non-Americans of Reddit, what "Normal" part of American Culture just baffles you?

The crazy people, I mean when I went to America, there were people walking around in the streets and on the trains, talking to themselves, pissing in the middle of the street, lying in the pavement. People just walk over them. In the UK there are homeless and crazy people as well, but they get a lot more help and are in far lesser numbers. Lots of the crazies get put away. You certainly could not stand in the street and piss and freely as you can in the US. Cops would come and fine you at least.

People treated like shit, I mean in places like Subway, lots of people just treat the servers like crap, don't even say thank you or anything. It happens here as well but not as openly. More overall, it seemed to me in America if you have no money, you are worthless to the system and other people. In the UK again there are of course homeless people and the like, but people seem to be more caring and not let money be the main definition of people, but that is changing with modern generations.

The Cops talking, that is not as common in the UK. When I was in the US, there was like six police cars outside one small shop.

Are you sure it's illegal to talk on the phone while driving? because I saw police doing it as well. Maybe it's only illegal in certain states?
