Non-Americans, when you lived or visited the States what did you think?

Well no offense but I think I’m going to file this under “H”—for horse shit. And you can throw all of the graphs and maps at me that you want, but I’d say actually living here is a better indicator of what’s up. I’m certainly not in the top 10% income bracket (LOL) and neither is anyone else I know, and we live quite comfortably, just as comfortably, I’m sure. I own a house that I’m very close to paying off in a middle class neighborhood that would probably seem like a castle to most of Europe. And I own a nice car too, and I am fortunate enough to enjoy all the conveniences of modern life. And I’m not the exception either. I would classify most Americans as middle class. We’re not rich, yet not poor, and we get by fairly well. The poverty that you’re speaking of is not rampant by any means, at least nowhere I’ve ever lived. Yes, there are poverty stricken areas, but that is not the norm.

“The only Europeans I know who would prefer to live in the US those that are into gun and/or dream of getting rich there...”

Just another example of some European who thinks they are superior to America, when in fact it’s most likely masking their true feelings of inferiority. I’m not trying to say America is so wonderful and that we are better than you, but I do think you have a chip on your shoulder about something. I have never met an American with much hostility towards Europe, but I constantly encounter Europeans who have a big beef with America. What’s your deal? I would say most Americans don’t harbor any feelings of superiority towards Europe; in fact I think most Americans think that Europeans are very sophisticated and chic, and look up to them, yet so many of you seem to look down on us. Maybe it’s time to give it up.
