As a non U.S guy, this is how imagine U.S students after paying their loans

oh god you poor poor soul....
I didnt ask you to prove it to me. I was stating that if they prove it that their loans can be deemed dischargable.
The bankruptcy changes in 05 didnt change that federally backed student loans werent dischargable. Anyone who takes private loans is in the same boat as a credit card borrower. Next, each year when the tuition raised they had the option to LEAVE. There are plenty of lesser institutions in america who offer 4 year degrees for no more than the pell grant.

If my landlord raises my rent more than I can afford I find a new apartment. When I took the assignment I am on I was paying $1000 mo in rent. Im paying $1600 4 years later. Welcome to america....if you arent moving up your going to have to fall back and make way.
If you arent smart enough to see things getting more expensive around you....if that somehow escapes you....then maybe you need something far more remedial than a university to educate you. Real life doesnt have training wheels or safety nets.
Your contention that schools are giving away a free year to get kids hooked on higher education is fucking asinine. I got a presidential honors stipend, and lost it because I was partying too much, MY BAD.....that isnt what kept me coming back for more education LOL

Listen, you think what you want. If it fills you with a delusions of adequacy to reel against reality by trying to find every excuse possible to avoid personal responsibilty then good for you. But well intentioned young men and women who just want to make something out of their lives need to understand the nature of their debt before they accept it, and if they ignorantly agreed to a devils pact they need to understand every intricate aspect of it. There are far more options available to people than most realize. There are plenty of ways to pay NOTHING and get an education or even cover the one you already got. BUT WHINING ABOUT IT BEING UNFAIR that you have to live up to an obligation willingly sought out and accepted is just pathetic.

The loan shark analogy is true of any borrower lender situation. You must understand that all debt comes with a risk of jeopardy.
You must accept that when you accept a privilege you are bound to the responsibilities that go with it.
