Noob Holographic sight question...

The ring itself I don't think offers a whole lot of benefit other than sight picture, however one can use it measure the distance of an object if you know how big that object is.

For instance let's say you were looking at a white tail doe. Those stand about 5 and half feet tall. If the doe is as big as the ring, head to hoof, that deer's a 100yds away. If the deer's half as big as the ring, the deer is 200yds away. We know that, because at 200 yds 65 minutes of angle of is a little over 130".

When you have a 1 MOA of angle red dot and you are 4" too high at 100yds, you need to drop 4 MOA. When you are 4" to high at 400yds, you need to drop 1MOA. The pizza slice is real tiny at the middle of the pie, but when you get out to the crust, the curve gets real big; but the angle is the same throughout.

I prefer to think in mrads myself, metric makes more sense.

The important information that you do need to know, especially when shooting at distance, how to calculate adjustments to your aim in angles. That milliradians and minutes of angle are. So knowing for isn 1MOA dot
