Is this normal?

You're right, I don't enjoy raiding and it does feel like a chore. Classic WoW is one of the most casual games I've ever played, the mechanics and gameplay aren't engaging at all. As a healer, you basically spam low ranked heals and never go oom. I might be biased in that regard given that I have all bis from phase 4 but the point is that there's never a moment where I think I could be better. Sure, I could snipe some more heals and increase my parses but there's no value in that.

Where I saw the value was collecting items and completing my character but when something is asking you to do 400-500 hours of time commitment it changes the value dramatically when you're told you need to get them and buy 100s of gs of flasks and consumes to the point where I spend more time outside of the raid preparing than actually doing the raid. This is on the back of doing a BWL once without world buffs and only losing 20 minutes clear time.

So sure, you could argue that I'm playing the game wrong from your perspective but I got to this point where I have cleared every phase except phase 5. This is my priest's gear and I have a choice where I can either grind for 6 months and maybe get one piece of gear that I'll keep past phase 6. Or I can go pug, GDKP or otherwise and see if there are any friendly groups open to me acquiring 2.5. In my view, it's a barrier that's been put up where I can never get an item no matter how much effort I put in.
