Is this normal? iOS taking over 40% memory in a 16GB phone

If your photos are taking up WAY more storage than you suspect they should then read this https://www.reddit.com/r/ios/comments/7858ya/if_your_photos_are_taking_up_way_more_storage/

TLDR:

  1. Settings > general > Date & Time > turn off “Set Automatically” and choose a date from a long time ago to set it as. For example, I did January 1st, 2010.

  2. Hit the home button. Go to your gallery. Check your recently deleted folder and see if there is anything in there. Is there? Delete them.

  3. Go back to step one but turn on “Set Automatically” again.

I did this on my iPhone and iPad and found a shit ton of old photos and videos in my recently deleted folder. iOS can be silly.
