Not from Seattle, but wondering if people there really don't want a hockey team or if its a political reason. Thoughts?

The above comment shows what is wrong in terms of knowing the facts.

Yes 100 privately funded arena! But they don’t have to pay some taxes and got a big tax break 50 mil for designating the old crummy dump the Key Arena a historical site.

Now that doesn’t account for the fact that as sports voters we have been trying to get our shit together to attract an NBA team. Yes hockey would be amazing and you better bet we will be the “best fans” if we are winning.

The real reason why this Key Arena deal stinks for fans is because we are spent. 10 years of trying to work with them. Votes rally, emails doing everything we can to get them to act.

Well they acted: they took a better aren deal made by a local Chris Hansen. An arena next to the other stadiums. And the city council members didn’t listen to the people. They were bought and paid for the the port of Seattle, also our local paper his been spewing propaganda to influence the public. Read anything from the disgraced Geoff Baker.

So we have our elected officials not representing us, we have our local paper bashing a good plan because the paper is owned by people who have ties to the Port madia.

So long story short: yes we as fans are excited by NHL and NBA however our “Seattle processs” has divided our city, made our elected officials out to be corrupt and spiteful. The whole thing just tastes like ass! That is why I one gives a shit because we look at this shit show and don’t want a part of it. Also the Key Arena deal was a plan championed by a child molestor mayor. So this whole thing is just gross!
