Not hating on current trends and technology, but so many don't appreciate the love of a good book! This picture makes me happy!

I am open to the idea that for some what you describe is likely true, but I don't agree race makes this popular. That very well could be my being naive, but anyone that is "surprised" by a beautiful black family reading, simply because they are black, feels like bigotry. I have to concede you are in a position to know better than I would and that fine line, but as for myself I can say without question this upvote was not racially motivated, and I am not someone who believes I free from my role in institutionalized racism in America. I am a middle aged white man who owns a successful company, and there has been (and is) plenty of white privilege in my life.

Like you I was surprised a family was reading, but not because they were black. It was because the children were all reading books with their Dad. I fully expect almost all black families can read, and as a percentage, I would put my money on higher rates of illiteracy in white adults and children. I know Stereotypes exist, but we are under no obligation to reinforce them, or believe in them at all.

Good luck in your field. Did you choose tech? If so best choice ever! (I am bias). Any choice is a good one.
