It's not that he is too big, it's that we don't have hearts. K. (Reposted from r/niceguys)

There's a big difference between not owning a car because you don't need one and choose not to have one, and not owning a car because you can't afford it.

I'd like to speak for a moment in this young man's defense, because in many ways I was (and am still) him. The first reaction of a young man who is realizing that he isn't a special snowflake and the message of "everyone deserves to be loved" is complete bullshit is to react with "but I'm not as bad as that other guy, I'm a good guy... right? Please tell me I am? I did all the right things my Mom told me to..." Their second reaction is to lash out.

Once they realize that their Mom was mainly interested in not having grandchildren in her 30s and what worked for getting laid in the 70's is a bit different than what works now, they will either fix their shit or double down.

And yeah, some of them will never find love. That's a possibility. You could be truly the best guy, with tons of money and a heart of gold, and still never find love. For me, for a long time, that meant being bitter. Then I got lucky and found someone just as bitter as myself... so sometimes even guys like me get lucky.

But whatever.
