I (not knowingly) participated in a universal credit scam using my details

The person made a universal credit claim on your behalf and made some fraudulent declarations to get the £1500 advance, as the amount offered is based on your declared circumstances.

They probably failed to inform you that the payment they got you is repayable and you will have to pay back the full amount. Now, the claim is likely to be closed within a month of making it, but as you have given the government your national insurance number, the debt will stay with you. And the DWP debt management team will likely be in touch for their £1500 back and possibly more if you are done for fraud. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.?
