I disagree, I can understand disliking the show for its episodic format, but for all intents and purposes the charcters are the driving force of the show. 

 Each episode has one character (usually more) realising and working through their own flaws, the plot amazing as it is (in my opinion) isn't the main point.

 These people act like real people, they joke, they cry, they deny their problems, they blame others. Ironically, the most human people in this show aren't really human anymore. I loved that they acted like Grant Morrison's run, I loved the "Negative" man cope with his garden, I loved Robotman accepting that he isn't th father hos daughter needs. I loved how they all realised they were monsters way before they got their powers.
