[Not a shill] Sandy Hook from a CT perspective. AMA

This might be the most unpopular thing I've said yet, but it's the truth: A lot of people in Connecticut look down upon the Sandy Hook conspiracy theories because we (myself included) are worried about some of the disrespectful lengths people have gone to harass the victims families and not let the community properly heal. Things like calling up the victims families and threatening them. Or stalking their houses, places of employment, etc... For a local, it seems really offensive that these people had to lose their children and now they have to face an onslaught of accusations and harassment. What I am saying is that is the way most people from Connecticut feel about it. So a lot of Connecticut people develop a hatred for the Sandy Hook conspiracy theorists. It's about local residents trying to protect their own. Connecticut people are just as outraged as anyone else about the crack-down on guns, the increasing police state, and all the same general fears as the rest of the country. But we are very worried that victims families are getting harassed unnecessarily.

That aside, I don't see anything wrong with sharing these theories. I actually enjoy reading many of them even if I don't buy into it. It seems with Sandy Hook there is a new conspiracy every day. I was actually overwhelmed when I came into this sub on how much there really was. In Connecticut, no one talks about Sandy Hook. It's a sore subject. A lot of people know someone who was affected by it personally. A lot of strong opinions about the gun laws. So we keep quiet. Apparently the rest of the world has been talking a great deal without us.
