And some children (me) were regularly neglected and ignored only until my mother needed something from me and then I was ungrateful because I didn’t want to. Some children got $5 clothes while their mom went on a shopping spree through the mall every month. Some children had to walk themselves to and from school 3.2 kilometers every day. Some children were manipulated into doing all of the household chores and cooking for themselves because their mother “did it last week and it’s your turn now”, even though it was always ‘my turn now’. So there’s that for the flip side.
