Former Corporate Marketing Director, current out-of-work-looking-for-a-part-time-Admin-Assistant-position person here. My back is so messed up, I’m done with working full time. Yet my medical bills disagree with me, lol, so life is tough here. I’ve had to move back in with my parents (this is so humiliating to write), & probably need to do a GoFundMe, but my pride won’t let me do it.
Between my back & chronic migraines, working is difficult at best, then I have a couple autoimmune diseases on top of all that & sometimes I wonder how I can function, lol. I just went to a temp agency last week & missed out on a ton of jobs because I couldn’t lift the minimum 40 lbs lifting requirement. At first I was upset, but I then reminded myself how far I’ve come since getting all my illnesses and surgeries. And how much I’ve overcome. I’m a damn hero for going hiking in Sedona a couple years ago. And I did have a great part time job until the company recently downsized. It only takes ONE position to say yes on me, & I’ll start getting income again. Life is going to get better for me, & it will for you, too.
To be blunt your current job sounds awful. I think it’s time to look for a new one that’s not only a more positive work environment, but is more accommodating too. We always seem to be the last people to know when we get disabilities, but it sounds like you’re there. You need help and accommodations, & your job should be working like crazy to take care of you. Also if you were hurt on the job, it’s Work Comp whether you like it or not. You can refuse to fill out the paperwork in a timely manner & lie, but there’s no shame in getting work comp when you need it. There are a lot of good people who get injured on the job. It’s not wrong, it’s the law. I’d suggest filling out the paperwork ASAP.
Sorry I can’t be of more assistance, but you can AMA, & I do feel for you. Take care, & an update would be awesome! :)
