I can't believe they continue to gaslight about this.

They were caught and called out on their corrupt approach to distributing Towns Fund cash, which was supposed to be a 'levelling up' fund but was actually a mechanism for bribing constituencies into voting Tory, and yet they continue with this approach.

Their original defence was destroyed by their lack of transparency over the allocations process, but as well as this qualitative argument it's also possible to show statistically from freely available data that the chances they were telling the truth about this 'levelling up' initiative was astronomically low.
