Nouman?

Arguably the most popular Muslim speaker in the world, and fairly conservative. He stresses the typical, "no interaction between males and females, stone adulterers, kill apostates, etc".

The past year some nasty rumors started spreading in the Texas community, about Nouman manipulating and having sex with some of his young female students, admirers, and employees. They could've been just rumors, but it was strange that Nouman had been virtually radio-silent since they began, and scholars/speakers/imams all over were clearly uncomfortable about it, but didn't speak against it.

Yesterday, the flood-gates broke. A number of major speakers/scholars came out and basically said Nouman was guilty of sexual "indiscretions", that the reason for his recent silence was part of a "rehab" plan he agreed to with various scholars, but he had now broke it, and was lawyering up to silence his accusers, and change the narrative.

Nouman responded today by doing just what the scholarly community said he would do. Totally deny the vague accusations in his own vague way, and challenged his accusers to provide evidence and dialogue (though in a closed private setting, not in the public).

My take is Nouman is guilty. Its not just 1-2 random dudes accusing him, its a variety of popular, respected scholars/speakers, who have known Nouman for years. His months-long radio silence during the spread of these rumors is extremely suspicious, as his incredibly vague defense posted today (said he was just "exploring marriage opportunities these past few months").

Lol k. He easily could have said he hasn't had any interaction with these women, or that they haven't had intercourse. He didn't say that, because its not true, and as the scholars have said, there's ample evidence it isn't true. What he probably was doing was divorcing his wife, and than conducting secret-marriage contracts with each woman right before he fucked them, and than annulled it afterword.

This is technically valid under Islamic-Law and not considered adultery, so Nouman can honestly claim he did nothing legally or Islamically wrong. He and his lawyers have essentially already said they want to resolve this in private mediation sessions, meaning he thinks if he can somehow come to terms with the community (no more speaking, apologies, rehab program, etc), the actual details of what he did may never come out (other than vague "indiscretions"), and he can live the rest of his life with some honor.
