Did you read the content of my post, or are you judging it merely by the title? I wasn’t discussing the original fiction. I didn’t summarize the plot or even identify the author or title. I was discussing one specific line in it that was an echo of one in her fanfic stories. It was like an Easter egg, and it amused me.

I know I tend to ramble a bit when I get into storytelling mode. I was going to edit the post to delete the mention of the reading challenge, which is not really essential to the point I wanted to make, but that no longer seems to be an option.

There are frequent posts on this sub about professional authors who used to write fanfic, or even still write fanfic for other fandoms. It seemed to me that the intersection of fanfic and commercial fiction is not off-topic.
