A lot of prominent authors aren't really praised for their grasp of the English language. Words have specific definitions. We can communicate with more efficiency or we can continue to meander in this sensibility-based muck of a language that leaves too much wiggle room as to what someone may be saying or feeling. Or continue to express ideas that are of little importance to our survival but have been bolstered by an unwieldy form of communication that can place so much loose emphasis on, let's say, gender identification. The biggest reason we needed to differentiate is so we can go, "this is a mate. This is not a mate." Things are a bit more complex than that now, and that is a failure of language. Anything outside of that is unnecessary and does nothing but feed back into the sensibilities created by language, accomplishing very little. The human race is just jerking itself off at this point and it's irritating.
