NP student went behind my back to cancel an order and now my patient is in the ICU

Report it yourself and see it through. I don't know what the hell your hospital is doing allowing NP students to even be able to do this shit. This right here is a prime example of what happens when mid level providers are given authority out of their scope. The student needs to be kicked out as far as I'm concerned and the hospital needs to reevaluate their protocols. I don't care if it's an NP student or an NP, they should have no business overriding a physicians orders. I wouldn't leave this alone. It's not just about covering yourself from a potential lawsuit, this idiot could do something next time that will result in your patients death.
