NPR's Ari Shapiro Repeats Lie about Trump Calling Coronavirus a Hoax

You didn’t claim it was a proposed budget that was not enacted. You spread a false claim that has been making its rounds on social media with the express intent of doing political dmg to trump based on something that did not happen. To feed a narrative - that trump cut funds to cdc and that those cut funds are responsible for CDCs poor response to coronavirus. The funds were not cut — the president doesn’t control budgets he only submits a proposal every year to congress that he puts together with federal agencies. Confess ultimately approves and passes its own budget that rarely looks like the presidential proposal. Civics 101 — also conveniently ignored by the falsehood you posted.

And yet when called out you immediately deflect to other situations — but it’s ok to lie about trump cutting the CDCs budget because X you say. Trump lies so much that it’s ok to lie about what he actually does you say.

Nope doesn’t cut it. It’s a lie that he cut the cdc budget and it’s a lie being spread with malicious political intent. Ask yourself where you heard it and what the motives would be for it’s dissemination given how easily it’s fact checked. And yet media spreads it anyway and here you are blindly regurgitating it as truth without any knowledge of what actually happened and acting defensive when callled out and deflecting blame back onto Trump.
