I agree with your first part, but 'vast majority want to keep guns in America' I would disagree fully

It is a year old and I want to bring attention to 'Many non-gun owners are open to owning a gun in the future' which I'm sure someone would happily over state.
While only 3/10's of adults own a gun (and in a shock to absolutely no one the largest demographic is white male)
33% could never see themselves owning a gun. It is a fair assumption to say that they are openly opposed to guns entirely(?)
and the majority of the rest seem indifferent 'at best' (36% total)
