[NSFW] [Serious] Redditors who have been born into or have joined cults--what was it like?

I grew up and am still involved with this 'movement' or whatever you wanna call it. Just an ordinary college student trying to live a normal Christian life. Many of your accusations are flat out wrong. If you've really done your research you may find specific doctrine we believe in that can be a point of contention with certain schools of theologians. But in practice/worship and the basic items of faith, there are no cult like attributes.

Feel free to pm me if you have more questions but I encourage you to take a look at the items of our faith. As a protestant Christian yourself I'm sure your church holds to very similar tenets. Also take a look at the testimonials from that website if u have time; lots of perspective from theologians. If you have questions about they way we worship, have a look (it's super long tho) at the Christian Research Institute's six year 'case study' about the local churches. Take away message is don't just go around labeling genuine believers as being cult members.
