This question comes at such an uncanny time.

About 4 days ago my boyfriends neighbor, whom we don’t speak to, knocks on the door and asks to come in for a drink. We allow him in and he sits at the bar. My boyfriends father joins us and we pour him a glass of wine. He eventually explains that he is here because his wife was just diagnosed with breast cancer and he has been wandering around and drinking with people all day to feel better. We were understanding and gave him advice on how to best support his wife. Wholesome so far, right?

What I neglected to mention is that the second he sat down at the bar he looked over at me and stated “You’re very physically attractive”, to which I laughed, tapped my boyfriend on the shoulder and said “I know, he’s a real catch”. A few moments later he said “I’ve always had a thing for young women”, (I’m 22) to which I smiled and nodded my head, not wanting to be rude when he is clearly dealing with such traumatic news. Finally, after another glass of wine he looks over at me and says “can I tell you something inappropriate?”. I pretend I cannot hear him. “You’re so pretty - you don’t need makeup”. I ignore him again. Suddenly he raises his voice, “Be careful, I’m going to kiss you soon.”

My boyfriends father, who is seated on the bartenders side of the bar, hears this and immediately stands up and states “be careful - you are in our house”. I retreat back into the house and find my boyfriend. I ask him to escort the man home. My boyfriend, confused, joins the men at the bar. I pour myself a glass of water and go to see how things are. I see my boyfriend standing next to the neighbor, who is seated but shouting “no, fuck you both!”

He refused to leave to the point where his wife had to come and fetch him in the middle of the night.

Such an awful and stressful experience.
