My husband and I were therapeutic foster parents for the "worst cases" in foster care. I do not believe that there is such a thing as "too broken". If you have a home with a warm bed, open arms, open hearts and open minds, then you have the qualifications to provide a safe place for kids who have had a tough life.

We worked with an organization that not only provided training and support for children in a therapeutic program. They were supposedly the hardest cases. We found that all a kid wants is a safe place to deal with their trauma. This might mean acting out inappropriately. We had case workers and therapists who could help us navigate their needs. We adopted our son because of this program. He is thriving. Don't let the idea that they are broken keep you from helping. You will find out that you might be the glue they need to put their lives back together. Best wishes in the New Year.
