Nuclear deterrent

Superman is often characterized as being Lawful Good and understands why Batman would keep one of his great weaknesses around, however, a fair share were ready to put him (Batman) at the stake and burn him for what they considered to be acts of betrayal. The result of Batman's planning ended with him no longer being part of the League (for a period of time), are you prepared to endure that same fate (should you survive)?

With another Paladin by your side, I really wouldn't see why you would need Batman-like scheming. Your God gave you impressive saves, a fairly decent health pool, reliable self-healing, combat prowess, and a strong morale path to follow...so really you'd be closer to the Superman of the comic world. Snag a couple Merciful weapons and just go to town if somebody has put themselves in a situation where you'd feel compelled to institute one of these plans. I have a strange feeling that the druid would be a tad more forgiving if you knocked them out versus say...performing an action which had them perform a taboo and lose their powers for 24 hours.

If your character feels there is a situation that could come up that they'd have to consider doing a "suckerpunch" to win a confrontation against one of their own allies...should they continue traveling with those people? Does this practice sit well with the deity you chosen to be a Paladin under? How does, "Creating a plan to exploit an allies weakness," sit with the moral code you've been given? Sure, it can be reasoned off as self-defense, for the greater good, protection of the weak, etc if the situation comes up...but does the act of planning still sit well?

I'm not against the concept of a character setting up contingency plans against their party members as it fits some themes: such as a Rogue who survives off maintaining an edge over their opponents and can't rely on magic to save their ass or a Wizard who wants to be a step ahead rather than 6 feet in the ground. It just sits at odds with what I expect out Paladin behavior, but as GM I suppose I'd weigh it against their deity/moral path and as a player I'd probably only limit such plotting to be against party members who stood against the grain of law or good.
