Not a member of the Establishment myself, so could be wrong. But young people with children and spouses become invested in maintaining the systems that feed, house, educate and employ them. No one with a family wants to see that burned down.

The point remains that the global system is collapsing regardless, due to Overshoot of the ecosystem causing climate change, mass species extinction, forever-chemical & microplastic contamination, peak oil, and permanent loss of natural resources like topsoil, rainforests and freshwater aquifers.

Based on that it no longer matters who is "in charge" or what generation one belongs to, it's all going to come down.
