The Numbers: How Taylor Swift's Folklore Beat out The Grammy Competitors Critically

I’m honestly so, so, over people talking about The Weeknd being snubbed in this subreddit. Is it completely stupid that Justin Bieber got nominations and The Weeknd didn’t? Yes, absolutely. Does it mean the Grammy’s are full of shit, mean absolutely nothing, and that Taylor’s win doesn’t mean as much now? No, I don’t think so at all.

There were SO many well deserved wins at the Grammy’s this year and watching it made me realize how many amazing songs and albums were dropped, AND there was variety. People in this sub and everywhere else seriously need to look into how the voting process works for the Grammy’s. It’s incredibly possible The Weeknd barely missed out on a nomination by a mere couple votes. Thousands of producers, songwriters, singers, past Grammy winners, vote on these artists. I genuinely do not think the snub was an intentional, malicious act. Especially when you look at the variety of artists who were honored last night. I can’t say any of them weren’t deserving. Fucking Beyoncé is the most decorated woman in Grammy history. That’s INCREDIBLE. Megan Thee Stallion was the first black woman to win Best Rap Song. And of course you have Taylor who now has 3 AOTY awards, the only woman to do so, at 31. There was so much goodness to be celebrated last night. So much music that brought people together during a crazy year.

The bottom line is we can’t reward every single person who releases great music in a year. The Weeknd had a great album and a great single, but there were other people who ALSO released great albums and great singles.

I swear it’s like supposed fans of Taylor want the Grammy’s to be corrupt and wanted Taylor to lose or something. I’m over it, celebrate Taylor and if people want to complain about The Weeknd maybe go to a different subreddit.
