Nurses of Reddit: What's your worst work-related story?

I’ll go with today’s story:

4 kids under the age of 10, brought in by custodial family member after being sexual assaulted by mother’s boyfriend. Mom participated in the abuse in exchange for money and/or drugs. All the bells were rung, 2 counties’ police departments, CPS, forensic examiner... Mom has older kids who were permanently removed from her custody due to similar circumstances... Mom is present and admits to her participation... Kids were discharged into family’s custody... Mom lives in the home too... Cops don’t plan on arresting mom, as she is going to help them in the prosecution of the primary abuser... Despite the facts mom was paid for access to the kids and held them down while they were being abused...

Words cannot describe the rage/grief/hurt/complete heartbreak over hearing 4 kids tell about how their mom held them down for this and what was done...

Some shifts make you wish forced sterilization and 2 minutes getting to beat someone with a baseball bat were a thing... That’s a total mindfuck when you identify as a bleeding heart, socialist.
