NYC apartment puppy owner: indoor potty training vs outdoor. Can’t decide, help

I’m in a NYC high rise and potty training has been kind of a nightmare. Actually, I shouldn’t say that. It’s a hassle. A long walk down the hallway to the elevator ride down from the 34th floor and then out through the lobby can easily take 5-10 minutes. My puppy is now 4 months old and potty training is going well and we’ve been able to cut down our number of trips outside each day. At first I carried her so she didn’t pee in the hallway or elevator but now she walks and we haven’t had an inside accident in a couple of weeks. She’s actually never once pooped inside which is great. The inside accidents that do happen are usually from me pushing it — playing a lot and not taking her right out or not soon enough after meals. Bottom line, it’s time consuming outdoor potty training in a high rise but totally worth it. Like you, I considered pee pads but there’s so much information out there about how it is confusing to train them on pads and then outside etc., and for me personally, I just don’t like the idea of pee and poop sitting around just from a pure hygiene/smell standpoint. I think you’re definitely doing the right thing going outside. Plus, she’ll get to meet so many puppies, dogs and people!
