100% honest that’s how I got in. My uncle (who’s in his 80s now) and cousin were teamsters when the business was dead in nyc. My father who was a firefighter got the call back in the day cause he had a class A to work on crocodile Dundee 2. Saying was true back then blood is thicker than water. If you brought someone in and they sucked someone needed to pay for it. Honestly when I see the older guys compared to the younger guys I prefer the older guys who got in the hard way. Too many people don’t know how good they have it.

Nowadays though it’s much easier for “outsiders” to get in. There is so much work that if you have a class A with enough time in you’ll work for a year. I got in as a van driver 3 years ago as what’s known as a “casual lister”.

I got my class B this year and I’m working my way up the “old school” way. I’m paying my time and I’m hoping to have a card in the next 2-3 years. I love my job and yes I had a family connection.
