Obama: Every time Trump talks, 'he makes the case against' himself

The right has gotten a lot more extreme, but don't exaggerate by saying that Democrats will run unopposed. Remember, the Democratic Party is still the minority party in both houses of Congress, in governorships (only 18 out of 50 governors are Democrats), and in state legislatures. I genuinely do think that the current Republican party's ideas are rejected by a solid majority of Americans, but the problem is that we have a variety of issues that still keep Republicans in power. Gerrymandering, voter ID laws, super PACS. But don't be mistaken, the biggest problem right now is that the people who vote are the people who agree with the Republican agenda. That's the crux of the issue, the demographic with the highest turnout is older white people who heavily skew Republican.

Don't think that the Republicans are gonna lose just because they're crazy. We thought that in 2010 and 2014, and look what happened. We thought these extremists couldn't possibly have victories, yet they did because while we thought, others voted. Thinking that your ideas are better or even your ideas being actually better doesn't guarantee a victory.

Don't get complacent and think that Democrats will win in a landslide just because the Republicans nominated a crazy person. They've voted for crazy people before, and they will again. Again, from your point of view you can't possibly see others vote for crazy people, but in reality they do and too often those people win all because they were way underestimated.
