This makes me sad, and it's not even about abortions. I had an old friend that was absolutely losing her mind terrified about having cervical cancer but was really poor and couldn't afford a doctor. Planned Parenthood checked her for free.

Pap smears have dramatically reduced cervical cancer in the United States, because if you don't have pre-cancer it will take 10-15 years for full-blown cancer to form. Honestly, if it's difficult for people to get paps it will end up costing the taxpayers more to help treat the increase in cancer.

Most of Planned Parenthood's patients are 150% below the poverty line and only 2 or 3% of their services are abortions. Most people actually go to gynecologists for abortions, but you don't see people protesting gynos. People are really uneducated about this too. I talked to a man awhile back that was saying, "Planned Parenthood needs to be defunded because I don't want to pay for people's abortions." When I told him that it wasn't primarily an abortion clinic and that most PPs don't even perform abortions, he had no idea what I was talking about.

I'm a conservative and still even support Planned Parenthood.
