[OC] Obesity rate in the United States (1985–2021) / Coronavirus update

Yeah it’s a lot of that I think. It’s weird people don’t see that already. Like just put in your mind someone with similar “doughy” build to you complaining that they need to lose weight, what are you going to say? “Yep, I understand that because you look doughy and could be overweight even though you are a relatively normal size”? Nah, you’re going to say “No! You look great!” And if you don’t you are probably somewhat socially awkward, unless it’s somebody you are really close to. Losing weight takes a lot of time, you don’t want to say something in a single instance that could prove to be worse later. If you tell someone you agree you think they are fat, and then they put on more weight instead of taking it off like they were trying to, well now that person is going to think you think very low of them since you agreed they were fat xx lbs ago. I think it’s strange to see people online express interest to lose weight to other people and not understand this could be contributing to why they are getting those answers.

It could be the other thing, but I just don’t know. I’ve been fat for longer than I’d like to admit, and I’ve went down and back up on the scales several times. It’s something I’ve struggled with for about a decade now. I’ve never had someone skinnier than me tell me they need to lose weight, and it make me scared because it makes me look worse or something. Maybe that’s just me, I just kind of think in our society it feels like a pretty personal thing a lot of people are self-conscious about so unless you are really close to someone or have some sort of vested interest in someone’s weight loss progress (i.e. gym partner, weight watchers group, etc.) I think it’s just something most people steer clear of
