[OC] "sapiosexuals"

I get frustrated when LGBT folks use the "discrimination Olympics" to decide who gets to be a part of the community and who doesn't.

I've seen trans folks pushed out if their dysphoria isn't "bad enough," bi and pan folks pushed out because they're in hetero relationships, even gay folks pushed out because they're "straight passing."

I also get frustrated when people discount the experiences of aces because they have some stereotypical understanding of the struggles asexuals face and decide that generalization is the way to go. I get frustrated when the answer to "I've suffered because of my asexuality" is "You haven't suffered enough to matter."

And I've also seen asexual folks who have been assaulted because they told their partners they were asexual, who have suffered corrective rape, who - because of lack of discussion about asexuality - spent their teenage and young adult years hating themselves, going from doctor to therapist trying to figure out something, anything, to fix their brokenness, choking down anti-depressants because shit, lack of sexual desire is a symptom of depression, right? It's definitely not the other way around, right?

But of course, see, this crippling self-loathing, doubt, and assault isn't nearly enough discrimination, when there's someone out there dying because of their sexual or gender identity. Of course, not the person making this point, but some other person, haven't you seen the news?
