Ocasio-Cortez dares moderate Dems to grow thicker skin, says ‘discomfort’ is part of politics: ‘I’m uncomfortable all the time’

but if people don’t understand the message or it scares them, then it needs to be explained better.

No. Some people are scared of certain ideas. End of story. That's not something you can change.

You can explain the concept of racial equality very nicely and very carefully to a southern guy in a white hood. He doesn't care.

So, let's get away from that nonsense. People who want to understand those concepts, understand those concepts. Those who don't understand them, do not care, and would not bother if you explained them differently, and even if they bothered, would be scared nonetheless.

I mean, it's time to take a good look at the Republicans: Some people are scared and uncomfortable with the racist shit that is being flung. They do not care.

And they are winning. So, I would propose to also not care so much about scaring people. So some people are scared? So what? A bit of Trumpian self-confidence, and less of a: "When they don't like it, we have to put our head into their asses more deeply!"-attitude would be pretty nice to see from the Dems on a broad front.
