Im laying in my bed at the Grand Hotel in Tijuana now - surgery tomorrow! I went through Mexico Tourism Corporation (MTC) and will be getting my surgery done at LIMARP.
My insurance wouldn’t cover it, so it would have cost me $12,000 in the states. In Mexico I’m paying $4,300. I did TONS of research prior and found this hospital and surgeon had great reviews, so I feel good about my decision.
The flights here were easy. A driver picked me up and brought me to the hotel (very nice - has casino, convenience store, room service, spa options, pool, jacuzzi). Across the street is a restaurant that has the BEST beef broth I’ve ever had!!! (I’m on a clear liquid diet today to prepare for surgery tomorrow).
Everyone’s pre-op diet will be different - depends on your starting point. I’m 5’2 and 200 pounds (BMI 36). My pre-op diet was only one week (protein shakes all day and one lean meal for dinner - like chicken & vegetables).
So far all is well! I’m nervous about the surgery, but excited to lose weight. I was getting to a dark place and this surgery gives me hope that I can get my life back again!
